I’ve been away to a forgotten place

I’ve been away. I know I have been away from my blog for a little while. That was because  I was oh so poorly, woe is me! Sorry if you missed me. But this isn’t what this post is actually about. I’ve been away to the long forgotten place, that is, the bottom of my wardrobe. There are dust tumbleweeds blowing around, spiders have taken up residence in this undisturbed long forgotten space in my house. Why was I there? What on earth was I looking for?

Shoes.

Yes shoes. Shoes that I never wear anymore. But that I just can’t get rid of. I genuinely love them too much.

I have long had a love affair with shoes. I own far too many. FAR too many. I’ve never been a handbag girl, or a jacket/coat girl, or a scarf girl! Shoes are my thing. Since getting pregnant with my daughter, the only heels I have worn are the little ones on a couple of pairs of my boots. My love affair with boots, which was already quite major, has only gotten stronger since Coco came along, I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for stompy boots which are now far more practical for my life now! But I used to wear heels a lot. Big heels. I used to work 12 hour shifts in those things! I loved being so tall in them, I’m 5ft 7 or 8 (depending on who measures me!) without heels, so put me in some good ones and I’m over 6 ft.

I’m going out this Friday. I am so excited, my first proper night out since becoming a Mommy. I have been out for meals and then for a drink or 2 after, but I’ve not been ‘partying’ in years! I’m going out, and not just out, I’m going out out!!! The stunning creature that is my cousin invited me to a party, we are going to a great gatsby party! AMAZING! And this my friends, is why I was in that long forgotten place of the shoes. Trying to find a pair of shoes, that fits vaguely with the 1920’s. I think I have a couple of pairs that could work. 2 of them just don’t fit me right anymore. My feet have gotten slightly bigger since pregnancy, and I would like to feel my little toe for longer then an hour. The pair that does fit, well what can I say, I’m more then a little wobbly on my feet in them. And they aren’t even high! Throw in a few drinks, dancing, and potentially uneven floors, or floors with spills, and well its looking like a recipe for disaster.

I may have to purchase some flat pumps. Oh the me of 3.5 years ago would be so disappointed in how far I, or more technically my feet, have fallen.

  1. My feet never quite got down to their pre-pregnancy size either … But I don’t have your shoe problems because I’m more around 5’4 and well, nothing is going to make me tall. And I never learned to walk in heels anyway … (raise your hand if you grew up tomboy!).

  3. Ooooooohhhhhhh how exciting! I am terrible in heels but wanted a pretty shoe so bought some Irregular Choice mid heels. They are the most beautiful, most perfect shoe in the world and super comfortable. I wore them on Friday, danced, drank and didn’t fall over 🙂 I’d check them out. Have a lovely night #blogstravaganza

I’m exactly the same although I still can walk in my heels, well ok, no more or less than before anyway! I threw out loadws of unused shoes a few years ago and I still look for some of them now. I vowed never to do it again. Shoes are far too precious!

Haha I totally get you! Prior to my two I’d have sky high shoes and love every moment in them. As it is, we went to a wedding recently and my feet hurt so much I could hardly walk, it seems i’m going to have to succumb to the flats too! Hope you have an amazing night!! Thanks so much for linking up to #Blogstravaganza xx
